Topic: Mini-tennis

1What age can my child start?

3 years old. We offer the mini Tennis-Tots classes (playgroup tennis), which are aimed at children between the ages 3-5 years. Please visit the Mini Tennis-Tots page on this website for more information.

2When does mini-tennis start?

Mini-tennis runs alongside the school terms. The current mini-tennis term information will be updated periodically on the website – in the Junior/Kids tennis section.

3How early can I book a mini-tennis course?

Booking is open 1 month prior to the start of the mini-tennis course.

If the details of the course are not on the website then it is not available to book. Please Check back regularly as places are limited.

4Can I provisionally book?

No, we do not allow provisional booking. Bookings are final once payment is made.

5Does my child need a racquet?

Your child does not need a racquet as we have spare ones at the club. However, if your child is playing on a regular basis it is advisable that they have their own racquet.

6What should my child wear?

A child should wear leisure clothes i.e. a tracksuit or a tshirt and shorts.

7Does a parent or guardian have to be present throughout the session?

No. However, please do not be late to collect your child as we do not have the staff or facility to look after unaccompanied children after class.

8What about shoes?

Tennis shoes/Trainers/sports shoes should be worn. No black soled and school leather shoes please.

9My child has never played tennis before, can they come to your camps?

Yes, certainly! Our camps are a great way to start their tennis journey. We have a mix of beginners and experienced players at our camps, and we separate the classes accordingly.

Our low coach to player ratio means that all children are given the attention they need to progress. Our camps are based around games and fun, so the children do not realise all the technical aspects they are learning along the way. They focus on new elements each day, and the condensed time period allows them to build their foundations quickly. In short, they hit a lot of balls!

Topic: General

1Do you charge membership fees?

No we do not charge membership fees at the moment.

2Do you do home visits?

Yes, we do home visits. Home visit sessions are normally priced higher than regular sessions because we have to cater for travel time (opportunity cost), distance (transport cost) and the cost of the private lesson.

3I would like my child to undertake tennis professionally. What should I do?

First off we’d like to commend you for taking a keen interest in the development of your child.

Just like most other sports, Tennis is good at building character, teamwork, communication, analytical skills and inculcating many other positive attributes.

The road to pro status is long and tough but you have already taken the fist step by doing your research. The next step is to have your children get started, typically around the age of 4 years.

We shall introduce the game to them as a fun activity and train them for some months where we shall observe how they take up the sport.

Thereafter, we shall give you an assessment of the child’s capabilities, natural talents and a roadmap of how you can achieve set goals.

Once you commit to the roadmap, we shall walk with you & your kids every step of the way, carefully tracking milestones and getting you closer to set goals with every training session.
